New construction in Oshiyie, Ghana: The site for this beach house is about 1/2mile away from the ocean. The plan is conceived as two independent public space massing on the ground plane, bridged by an upper floor of both private and public spaces. The building is oriented to take advantage of the view and cool breeze of the ocean to the south. The modern aesthetic highlights the client’s desire for the building to stand out in the context of a relatively undeveloped site. The passive design response to the tropical climate underscores natural lighting, ventilated rooms, vegetated and shaded courtyards of the exterior spaces.
