History

Welcome to my page. I’m Edwin Sefa Gbomita, a freelance Architectural Designer residing in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. When I moved to America in my teens from Ghana, I developed a fascination with buildings and the working order of planned cities. At college, an introductory course on the History of Architecture seized my attention and set the course for my journey in the field of architecture.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Architectural Studies from the University of Pittsburgh, PA and a Master of Architecture degree from Northeastern University, MA. During my time at Pitt, I received a student leadership award from the Pitt Program Council for my leadership role as President of the Architecture Club. At Graduate school, I was awarded the Diversity Fellow Award for academic excellence by the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. My website is a platform to showcase my personal design works.  I am a fanatic of the “green movement” in the design/construction industry, and can help guide your project towards the direction of eco-sustainability. I am a LEED accredited Green Associate designer and Bronze member of the Ghana Green Building Council.

My experience as a designer/project manager spans a career of fifteen years and counting having worked for small to mid-size architectural firms in Pittsburgh, Accra and Philadelphia. In Accra I worked for the distinguished architect, Mr. Joe Osae Addo. In his office, I worked on American actor Brad Pitt’s eco-housing dwellings for his Make it Right foundation. I also worked as a Project Designer/Researcher for Mr. Foster Osae-Akonnor, the founder of the Ghana Green Building Council. I currently work as a Design and Construction Project Coordinator for the City of Philadelphia. In this capacity, I have worked extensively on various scales of Public Works projects for the City’s diverse Departmental agencies.
